Four of the most recognizable - and possibly most underrated - female rappers in recent years are being united by a new project that aims to renew the female emcee's presence in commercial Hip-Hop.

Babs Bunny, Lady Luck, Amil, and the Lady of Rage have come together to create the Females Earning Money, or FEM Movement.

The four women are hoping to reap the benefits of unity without losing their individual solo status, explains co-executive producer Uneek, who developed the new Movement alongside popular New York radio personality and former Yo! MTV Raps host Ed Lover.

A former rapper herself, Uneek currently manages both Babs and Lady Luck and is fully aware of the difficulties women face in Hip-Hop.

"Females don't come together enough and we need to show unity and cohesiveness," said the former Bounce Squad member of her vision. "Men do it all the time and now it's our time to stand up, stand together and make some money. FEM gives these talented women an opportunity to come together as a movement to show the power that we have when we work as a team."

Despite having been ushered into the world of Hip-Hop by some of the most prominent crews in the game, some more than a decade ago, all four artists are aware of the current status of their careers.

"None of us are amateurs," said Babs, the last of the four to enter popular consciousness, via MTV's Making of The Band 2 in 2002. "We are all very talented and we have all worked with major artists in the industry,” Babs said. “Rage with Dr. Dre and Snoop, Amil with Jay-Z, Luck with Def Jam and EPMD and myself with Diddy. But at the same time we all still have something to prove."

"A lot of people have been wondering what happened to the female emcees," explained Hip-Hop pioneer Ed Lover. "Well these ladies are about to prove that they are here and they are better than ever! The FEM Movement is great for the future of Hip-Hop! This is the perfect time to do a project like this"

The FEM Movement's first collective project, a new mixtape hosted by DJ Doo Wop, is currently in the works and has recruited the involvement of other high-profile female artists, including Rah Digga.

The as-yet-untitled mixtape will be followed-up with a tour.

In the suit, McCune alleges the producers included footage of him battling Brooklyn legend Notorious B.I.G. without his permission.

“This segment of the Plaintiff (McCune) and Christopher Wallace is shown throughout the video and is a dominant feature in the extras portion,” the complaint reads. “The use of the photograph, image, and likeness of the Plaintiff, in the video by the Defendants, jointly and severally, and acting in active concert was unauthorized.”

Defendants named in the suit include: director Peter Spirer, journalist Dream Hampton, Rugged Entertainment, and Aslan Productions.

The documentary, released in August 2007, included interviews with Method Man, E-40, and Easy Mo Bee.

The feature gained exposure by being the first film to detail the confrontation between E-40 and Biggie over a quote misunderstanding. McCune could not be reached for comment

Over the past few months, teen sensation Soulja Boy had been embroiled in verbal spats with veteran MC’s the GZA and Ice-T.

However, the young rapper found unlikely support in two superstars: 50 Cent and Kanye West.

“Basically comments were made (by Ice-T) and I had to defend myself,” Soulja Boy explained to AllHipHop.com. “The GZA had said something about me one time and 50 jumped it in. And this time it was Ice-T and Kanye jumped in it. It’s the new Hip-Hop sticking together and I love it.”

“Look how many people came out with records last year: ‘Party Like a Rockstar,’ ‘A Bay Bay,’ ‘Wipe Me Down,’” Soulja Boy reasoned. “He (Ice-T) chose me because out of all those records mine was the biggest one. And [it was] not just the record but me individually.”

After the disrespectful remarks made by both sides on each other’s musical contributions to Hip-Hop, which are significant, Soulja Boy also welcomes closure to the unnecessary animosity.

“It’s over with for me,” Soulja Boy stated emphatically.

Last month Ice-T also officially ended the feud on his part.
Quote:50 Cent has spoken out about his current feud with fired G-Unit bandmate Young Buck - insisting he doesn't consider his former protege an enemy.

The pair have been entangled in a bitter war of words since 50 Cent released a new track - entitled The Taped Conversation - last month (Jun08).

It featured Buck grovelling to the rapper, seemingly begging him to be allowed back in to the hip-hop group after he was kicked out in April following a dispute over song royalties.

Buck - real name David Darnell Brown - hit back at the In Da Club star's claims, telling fans the recorded conversation was doctored and a fake.

And despite the pair's exchange of bitter tirades against each other, 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - claims he is merely "disappointed" by the actions of his former pal.

He tells Mtv.com, "Buck is a disappointment for me. I treated him like a younger brother. ... He's not an enemy now.

This year’s Fourth of July celebration will include a bit of revolution, courtesy of a new video from Atlanta rapper Killer Mike.

The clip, titled “Pressure,“ debuts today (July 4) and features West Coast rap icon Ice Cube.

The video for the politically-charged track will offer an honest and discouraging view on the current state of affairs in America.

For Killer Mike, "Pressure" provided a way for the rapper to tap into "a frustration that’s bubbling in all parts of this country."

"You can only get upset for so long before you stop holding back. So I let loose and said some s**t that no other rapper has the balls to say," Killer Mike told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “We as black people should not be just blaming whites, but making black politicians, social and religious leaders take responsibility and accountability for selling out their community."

Killer Mike touches on topics ranging from "the police department being the state sanctioned killers of blacks" to "the Sean Bell aftermath," to "the police killing of a 92-year old grandmother in Atlanta," on "Pressure."

Produced by The Bizness, "Pressure" is one of the songs featured on Killer Mike’s forthcoming album I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II.

The album, which features appearances from Shawty Lo, 8ball and MJG and Chamillionnaire, is set to hit stores on Tuesday (July 8).

Following the heavy circulation of Obie Trice's new single "The Giant" signalling the Detroit rapper's departure from his situation with Shady Records and it's parent company, Interscope, the brass at Shady issued a statement Monday (Jun 30) reaffirming its support of Trice's decision.

"Shady Records has agreed to allow Obie Trice to pursue his craft in a
different forum free from the constraints of the current major label
model," Eminem's long time partner and manager Paul Rosenberg told
AllHipHop.com.

Sources on the web have erroneously reported that the new explanatory
track released to the web on Sunday (Jun 29) included lyrics meant as a diss to his former label and Eminem, who added Trice to the label's
roster in 2000.

At issue was the song's opening verse, on which Trice raps "Guess it
was meant / for me to branch off from my caucasian friend" and "Nope,no more 2nd place to Eminem / question if i was 2nd is the question to many men."

"Eminem will continue to support and work with Obie on many levels of
his career," Rosenberg stated frankly. "He remains a close friend and
member of the Shady family."

During his time as a Shady/Interscope artist, Obie Trice's two albums
which were well received critically, established the artist as Eminem's heir apparent.

The first, 2003's Cheers, sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, while its follow-up Second Round's On Me found slightly less commercial support.

Detroit's Obie Trice has left Shady Records after eight years and two albums, AllHipHop.com has confirmed today (Jun 30).

He is currently working on his third album, while solidifying a new situation for his own imprint.

“Obie and Shady were moving in different directions,” the 30-year-old rapper’s manager Terry Wilson tells AllHipHop.com. “But he still has a great relationship with Shady Records. He has some big plans for his World Wide Hustle label.”

Currently recording his third album while solidifying his label situation, Trice has released a track explaining his decision to leave the label with which he attained a considerable amount of respect and success.

While a source at Shady confirms the split is amicable, the new song, “The Giant,” indicates that Obie’s complaints may have been with parent company Interscope.

“I murdered e’ything when I wore the Shady logo,” he spits after announcing there’s no more Shady.

“O is a mogul/Low on the totem pole ‘cause Interscope’s loco/Now I’m gettin’ mo’ dough.”

Following a personal introduction to Eminem via D12’s Bizarre, Obie Trice joined the Shady Records family in 2000 and was introduced to listeners outside of Detroit on the supergroup's 2001 debut Devil’s Night.

His own RIAA-certified gold debut Cheers came two years later, with a follow up, Second Round’ s On Me released in 2006.

Continuing with the theme of his two previous releases, Trice’s third album is tentatively titled Bottoms Up.

Yesterday June 28th at the UK Glastonbury Festival, singer Amy Winehouse took an unexpected shot at Kanye West.

The Glastonbury Festival, whose founder Michael Eavis admits has been home to predominantly white guitar-based bands, sought to move away from that image this year by having rapper/mogul Jay-Z headline the event. This move drew mixed reactions, with many supporting the move and those such as Oasis’ Noel Gallagher deriding it.

During Winehouse’s set, the controversial singer addressed Kanye in the midst of performing “Some Unholy War.” Festival attendees are reporting she improvised the lyrics to state “At least I’m not opening for a cunt like Kanye.”

Winehouse and West have had no previous bad history, but there has been speculation that the line may be due to the bad publicity West garnered at another festival, the Tennessee-based Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. During that show West’s set was delayed for hours raising the ire of fans and media alike. West has since defended himself on his website with a passionate blog rant

Regarding Winehouse’s comment, West has already responded. Late last night the superstar posted a brief, lighthearted title-only blog stating “This Just In…Amy Winehouse Hates Me!!! Now I’ve Really Made
It!!! LOL!!!!”
Winehouse and West have yet to comment further on the matter at press time.

Jay-Z answered his detractors in commendable fashion at the Glastonbury Music Festival in Britain on Saturday.

The rapper took to the stage – with a guitar over his shoulder – and sang a rendition of Oasis’ hit song “Waterwall.”

Noel Gallagher of Oasis, a rock band from the UK, has opposed the rapper headlining the huge event since it was announced in February of 2008.

Jay-Z was greeted with cheers from Glastonbury festival-goers, who sang “Waterwall” with the Brooklyn-bred rapper. He quickly spun into his rock flavored “99 Problems,” which lyrics boast “I got 99 problems, but a b***h ain’t one.”

Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z’s wife, attended the event and was noticeably excited as she watched her spouse perform, according to sources with AllHipHop.com.

“The world should be all about mixing culture,” Jay-Z said to UK radio personality Tim Westwood. “Hip-hop is music in its art form. It should be accepted and respected. It’s all the same thing, it’s just coming from a different perspective.”

Normally, Glastonbury caters to rock music, but organizers recruited Jay-Z in an effort to attract a younger demographic. Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was the most vocal critic and said, "I'm not having Hip-Hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

However, throughout the festival, expressed a very different sentiment towards Jay-Z than Gallagher.

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro, another headliner, paid tribute to their Hip-Hop counterpart. The band played a version of Jay-Z’s hit “99 Problems.”

The Gossip's Beth Ditto praised Jay-Z’s presence for elevating the festival, despite slow ticket sales.

"I'm so jealous of you, camping to see Jay-Z," Ditto said during The Gossip’s show. "Seriously, I'm so f**king jealous. Jay-Z: guilty of making this festival good."

The Glastonbury Festival is held on Worthy Farm near Glastonbury in Somerset, England over 800 acres. The festival began in 1970 with about 1,500 people.

The festival nearly sold out, moving about 142,500 tickets.

Is anybody else finding the Ice-T vs. Soulja Boy beef fascinating? No?

Does nobody else see the irony of somebody calling themselves ‘Ice-T’ telling somebody calling themselves ‘Soulja Boy’ that they killed hip-hop?

How about nearly 30 years of terrible names killing hip-hop?

Well, we took a look back and here are the 25 worst rap names of all time.

25. Kokane (left)

Ooooooh. You spelled it wrong! Good job. Can’t tell by looking at you if that was intentional or if your IQ borders on legally retarded. By the way, Legally Retarded is a pretty good rap name.

24. Uncle Murda

Look how ridiculous this guy is. You like murder, we get it. When you’re done playing dress up, get back to mopping them floors at Burger King. Actually, I’m guessing the 10% of this guy’s rhymes that aren’t about murdering people, are about how much he hates mopping the floors at Burger King.

23. Kingpin Skinny Pimp

You can’t be a kingpin and a pimp, bro. Pick one. That’s not even trying. And I don’t believe you’re either. You look like the janitor from my high school, if he went to Hip-Hop Glamour Shots.

22. Peanut Butter Wolf

Don’t exactly know what you’re going for here, guy. But that name is a stinker.

21. Dorasel

He must feud with Enagyza. Is it me, or do most of these guys look ‘special’?

20. Atoms Family

I know its the same joke as the last one, but they must have beef with Da Munstaz. Sorry. Too much fun to pass up.

19. Da Notorious Prime Playaz

Jesus Christ. Get it together. You’re docked points for ‘Da’ and ‘Playaz’. It’s like you took four other rap names and slapped them together to get this mess.

18. 69 Boyz

It sounds like you getting a blow job… while giving a blow job. Deducted points for “Boyz”.

17. Funky Aztecs

Funky + An Indian Tribe Name = Terrible.

16. Godfather Don

Oh my god. Fuck yourself. Was ‘Gotti Capone Montana’ taken? How about ‘Any Book by Mario Puzo’?

15. Grayskul

A big thumbs down to He-Man-influenced rap names.

14. Concentration Camp
Wow. No.

13. DJ Crazy Toones

Did you lose a bet when you picked this name? Because it’s terrible.

12. Freak Nasty

A good way to date yourself with a short-lived slang term for sex circa the A Different World era.

11. Guilty Simpson

What, you couldn’t come up with a quick Menendez Brothers reference? How about Lorena Bobbit? Your new name is ‘Mongo Slice’.

10. Da Muzicianz

Whoever came up with this name, wrote it in poop on a wall. Just horrible.

9. Matlock

Did this sound cool to whoever came up with it? Because its a show with Andy Griffith that old people like.

8. Deadly Snakes

You’re really not even trying now. Elementary school kids have tree house club names that are more clever than this.

7. Carmen Sandiego

It’s a kid’s geography game. You can’t act hard. Although “Shootz n’ Laddahz” is a pretty sweet name nobody uses.

6. Yak Ballz

Nobody is ever going to care about you.

5. Rappin’ Ron

Well… my name is Ron and I’m here to say…

4. Princess Superstar

I hope there’s irony involved in a name this horrible.

3. Young Black Teenagers

None of them were black. None of them were teenagers.

2. Boss Hog Barbarians and Boss Hogg Outlawz

It’s a tie. You both just took a Dukes of Hazzard character and then added something more dangerous to it. Fail.

1. Hawd Gankstuh Rappuh Emsees Wid Ghats

Please let this be not a joke. It sounds like a deaf person coming up with the worst rap cliche ever.

Soul legend STEVIE WONDER has blasted rapper NAS for planning to call his new album N**GER - insisting the word is still offensive to a lot of people.

Nas came under fire from both the media and his record label, Def Jam, for using the racist term as the title for the LP - and he was eventually persuaded to change it.

The record will now simply be titled Nas.

But Wonder is disgusted that the star ever decided to use such an inflammatory term for his work - as the public debate over the issue will have stirred up a lot of painful memories for many people.

And the Superstition hitmaker hopes the public will eventually be able to erase the insult from their vocabularies.

He says, "I'm not with the word only in that we had buried the word and it should have been buried.

"People say, 'Well we use it for fun and whatever.' I'm not really feeling it and I know sometimes it comes in (to) conversation... For all the pain that has happened over the years, what that word brings up, it needs to go away."

Hip-hop mogul Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter is looking to expand his range of investments into the baseball world - he wants to own shares in the New York Yankees.

The rap superstar already heads up an empire that includes the Roc-A-Fella Records music label, Rocawear clothing and Armadale vodka - in addition to being a shareholder in the New Jersey Nets basketball team.

He has previously been linked to a deal with London soccer team Arsenal Football Club, and while Jay-Z admits the rumours were true, negotiations fell through in 2005.

And now the star has a new sporting interest - he's in the midst of talks to buy shares in the Yankees.

He tells London's Time Out magazine, "I had invested in the Nets, and they (Arsenal bosses) asked me if I was interested in investing. But I get that from time to time.

"Someone told me yesterday that someone else had a piece of the New York Yankees - 'We wanna talk to you, yadda yadda yadda.' I mean, I love the Yankees so I'm in the middle of following that through, but sometimes it comes to be nothing.

"That (Arsenal) was one of the times it came to nothing".

The majority of Death Row Records’ publishing and recorded music assets became the property of the Global Music Group on Tuesday (June 24).

Global Music Group acquired Suge Knight's former empire for $25 million during an estate auction, which took place in Los Angeles.

With the traditional 10-day waiting period waived, the Tennessee based-indie took immediate ownership of the label’s entire catalogue, including 20 unreleased records by the late Tupac Shakur.

The sale took place despite Marion “Suge” Knight’s reported efforts challenge federal bankruptcy Judge Vincent Zurzolo’s order to liquidate Death Row's assets to alleviate the debt that forced both the label and Knight into bankruptcy in 2006.

With its new acquisition, GMG, headed by president Susan Berg, is making its first foray into the world of urban music, adding the genre defining music of Snoop Dogg Dr. Dre and Tupac to it’s current roster of two country singers, a studio musician and an alternative band.

If all terms of the sale were left untouched, GMG now owns all of Death Row’s masters, videos, compositions and recording, as well as all digital recording rights, merchandising rights licenses, and publishing agreements.

Excluded from the exchange are cash and bank accounts, real estate, and personal property held by Suge Knight and Death Row Records.

In addition, the label gets to retain any outstanding accounts receivable payments and prorated publishing income that may still be due.

GMG is also released from all standing distribution deals for the music, including one with Koch Records, which had become one of Death Row’s primary distributors.
